The Course In Depth

Dr Milton Erickson is recognised by many to be the greatest hypnotherapist in history to date. He revolutionised the field of hypnotherapy by emphasising the importance of treating every client in an individual, personal manner, rather than by simply seeking to categorise his clients by pigeonholing them into pre-determined 'character types'. He understood that we are all unique human beings and that therefore unique methods need to be utilised to meet the specific needs of each client. His contribution transformed the field of therapeutic linguistics and popularised the use of healing metaphors, to the extent that the field of psychotherapy now has a model of language called 'The Milton Model', and a form of hypnotherapy called 'Ericksonian Hypnotherapy', both of which are based directly on Dr Erickson's work.

'I just wanted to say a few words about how much I enjoyed my time on the Integrated Diploma Course. I have knowledge of several other courses, as you know, and I can honestly say that I believe that what you offer is some of the best tuition in the business. The fact that we get genuine practical experience in a non threatening environment really prepares for that real life exposure to our first clients. The style, knowledge and experience that you both clearly bring to the course I felt was invaluable to the students. I particularly liked the fact that there was plenty of opportunity to ask relevant questions and hear your experience of situations too. Many thanks again. Kind regards. Ashley.' PhD.

Dr. Erickson's unique approach in turn greatly influenced Dr. Richard Bandler and Dr. John Grinder when they were themselves developing Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and it has since rapidly grown in popularity among professional hypnotherapists, to the extent that today Ericksonian Hypnotherapy principles are recognised as being some of the most useful therapeutic tools available. This Ericksonian Hypnotherapy Practitioner training course (which is integrated with modern CBT, NLP and Life Coaching methods) is solidly based on Dr Erickson's principles.

This programme includes live demonstrations and practical support, all of which, our experience indicates, is vital in the context of hypnotherapy training, in order to develop competency. You'll have opportunities to observe, ask questions and practice all that we teach and you will also receive ongoing support, both during training and after the course concludes.

GHSC Validated

This training programme has been designed to meet the validation requirements for the General Hypnotherapy Standards Council (GHSC) Practitioner Level Hypnotherapy Training. We've chosen to adhere to these clinical standards because the GHSC is a leading INDEPENDENT accrediting body, positively representing the field of Hypnotherapy/NLP. http://www.general-hypnotherapy-register.com

Upon successful completion of this course therefore you will receive a Diploma in Hypnotherapy, a Practitioner Certificate in Neuro Linguistic Programming, a Cognitive Behavioural Therapy Diploma and a Life Coach Certificate, awarded by Aurora Healing Ltd.

CBT Psychotherapy Pioneers...

The work of other pioneers like Drs Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis in the development of what could be called 'pure Cognitive Behavioural Therapy', coupled with the complementary (often-times parallel) methods developed by Drs Milton Erickson, Virginia Satir, Richard Bandler and John Grinder within the fields of modern Hypnotherapy and NLP (which methods are themselves, by the way, recognised as forms of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) have changed the way people consider the provision of psychotherapy, counselling and hypnotherapy in modern times.

Thanks to the breakthroughs made by these dedicated psychotherapists, counsellors and hypnotherapists we now have access to a body of evidence which (i) demonstrates the scientifically measurable results that can be achieved in the application of psychotherapy using these approaches... and (ii) which outlines a clear set of principles that can be learned by other counsellors.

Multimodel Cognitive Behavioural Therapy

Dr Albert Ellis, the founder of Rational Emotive Behavioural Therapy (REBT) was arguably the first practitioner of modern integrative Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. Soon other experts began to develop similar (oftentimes overlapping) cognitive behavioural approaches to the field of counselling and psychotherapy, perhaps the most notable among them being Dr Aaron Beck, the founder of Cognitive Therapy. Since this watershed moment in time, when many outdated and ineffective approaches to psychotherapy were swept aside, the field of CBT has continued to develop and we now have the benefit of a wide-range of evidence-based methods that build upon the work started by Drs Ellis and Beck. Therefore, along with traditional REBT/CBT modals of therapy there now exist Choice Therapy, Compassion Focussed Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Metacognitive Therapy, Schema Therapy and more. As a result of the empirical studies that have taken place, we know that all of these CBT-based approaches can be proven statistically to demonstrate consistent results with clients. Our growing understanding of how to develop and maintain psychological and emotional balance in a person's life has led us to a place where we now know beyond any shadow of doubt that there's a direct relationship to be found in both the style of thinking and the dominant thoughts a person engages in with the behaviours they habitually act out... and how they feel. Modern CBT principles achieve results through the influence they bring to the levels of cognition, emotion and behaviour, which in turn enable clients to begin to learn how to shift out of habituated self-disturbing states, thereby experiencing significant improvements in how they feel.

Group Photo

Positive and negative feelings cannot coexist. When a person begins to learn how to replace self-disturbing ways of thinking and behaving with more self-supporting attitudes those other less helpful emotions like fear, anxiety and depression cannot take permanent hold so easily.

Multimodel Cognitive Behavioural Therapy is a method through which a person learns to become mindful of many hitherto unhelpful automatic habits in order to discover how to change them. The Multimodel CBT approach includes instruction in a wide variety of methods that are empirically proven to generate significant changes in thought, action and emotion.

The Multimodel CBT method is well-established within the field of modern psychotherapy (Dr Arnold Lazarus and Dr Albert Ellis regularly advocated this method). This course therefore draws upon principles that have been tried and tested, including both the traditional REBT/CBT approaches of Ellis and Beck and the more recent discoveries that have followed.

Group Photo

Multimodel Cognitive Behavioural Hypnotherapy operates at many levels, including;

* Mind

* Body

* ...and Spirit.

We believe that it's only when all aspects of personality are taken into account that true harmony can be developed. Therefore we incorporate elements of many well-known principles into our approach, including visualisation skills, goal setting and spiritual openness.

In order to remain 'up-to-date' with ongoing developments in the field, this course then recognises methods first expounded by Drs Aaron Beck, Albert Ellis, William Glasser, Milton Erickson and Dr Virginia Satir... which are today subjects of ongoing research by Rebecca Crane, Paul Gilbert, Paul Salkovskis, Eshkol Rafaeli, David P. Bernstein, Jeffrey Young, Windy Dryden, Adrian Wells, Gary Emery, Paul Ekman, Richard Bandler, John Grinder, Anthony Robbins, Paul McKenna and others.

An Integrated Approach...

Since this programme is based on a core hypnotherapy approach to therapy, we seek to seamlessly weave principles of 'pure' CBT into the CBT protocols that already exist within Ericksonian Hypnosis, NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) and Life Coaching.

The Hypnotherapy/NLP Lineage...

Dr Erickson was a master of communication. He worked at many levels of perception, ranging from the subtle to the direct. He utilised metaphor, and indirectness with therapeutic precision and as a result his method became renowned the world over. In the process it was brought to wider public awareness by Richard Bandler and John Grinder as they developed NLP, based largely on Erickson's example. (As a result famous names like Anthony Robbins, Paul McKenna and Derren Brown can all trace their lineage, through Bandler and Grinder, right back to Erickson).

The CBT / REBT Lineage...

Drs Aaron Beck and Albert Ellis were contemporaries of Erickson (who passed away in the 1980s) who approached the same kinds of issues that Erickson treated from a notionally non-hypnotic perspective (although, visualisation and imagination were often used, so, it could reasonably be said, that hypnosis has been an integral element of CBT practice, albeit by a different name (visualisation) from the outset). Beck and Ellis engaged in practice-based research to learn more about the cognitive behavioural components of anxiety, phobias, OCD, depression and other similar problems with a view to (i) understanding what causes such states and (ii) developing methods that could measurably be used to address such issues (they, like Erickson, Bandler and Grinder worked in a results driven, solution focussed way). Between them they've enabled all those of us who've chosen to become modern therapists today to enjoy the benefits of drawing upon the many years of research and methodologies that Erickson, Bandler, Grinder, Beck and Ellis (and others) have made available to us.

How It All Fits Together...

Those who've already trained in hypnotherapy, NLP and CBT separately can't but help to have noticed the significant overlap in approaches found in 'pure CBT', Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP. In essence the developers of Ericksonian Hypnotherapy, NLP, CBT and REBT all understood that a mixture of dysfunctional thinking and self-defeating behaviour contribute to negative states and therefore (unlike previous Freudian methods) they all utilised methods that are applied directly on cognition and behaviour in measurable ways, to enable individuals to 'rebalance' how they think, act and, ultimately... feel.

Presented by Kerin Webb MA, and Andrea Lindsay D.Hyp.

This professional training programme (which is based in Ringwood, UK) is presented by Kerin Webb and Andrea Lindsay.

Kerin is the author of two books about hypnotherapy. He's written articles for the popular British Board of NLP magazine called The Model and the Journal of The Complementary Medical Association. He's been featured in the popular publications called Chat It's Fate and Take A Break's Fate & Fortune Magazine. Kerin is qualified in Hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP and Counselling.

Andrea works in a local school as a resident counsellor to the pupils. She's been in practice as a hypnotherapist for over a decade. Andrea has appeared many times on local radio talking about - and in some cases doing live demonstrations of - hypnotherapy. She has extensive experience of working with children and their parents. Andrea is herself a supervisor in Dorset for hypnotherapists in practice.

The insights that you will gain from this Validated Hypnotherapy Training Course are the kind that you would probably spend many years in practice seeking to achieve. People from the world of TV and radio, corporate business people, British peerage, counsellors and other therapists, mums and dads, children, bankers, drivers, tutors, sales executives - and many other people from all walks of life have consulted with Kerin and Andrea.

Phone Message: 'If you ever need a recommendation I'll be happy to. I referred someone else to you because I got such a good Result' A. Bournemouth. (Helped to overcome insomnia.)

Kerin and Andrea have also recorded a number of hypnotherapy MP3 downloads for ULTRA HYPNOSIS which you can buy online. Andrea presents regular positive thinking 'tips' for a Talk Radio station.

Externally Validated Hypnotherapy Course

Practical Training

This is a professional 'hands-on' course, which means that you can be sure that we will not simply pass out handouts covering the theory of hypno-psychotherapy without providing practical demonstrations of the methods being taught, but rather, along with providing you with comprehensive, useful, course material we will demonstrate Hypnotherapy/NLP, CBT and Life Coaching principles for you to observe - and experience - on a regular basis.

Nor will we present a few unconnected demonstrations of stage hypnosis-style techniques that have little or no currency in the field of modern professional Hypnotherapy practice, but rather, we will regularly demonstrate methods that have direct therapeutic application.

What You Will Learn

We will teach you a range of influential principles that have clinical efficacy. If you want to know how to help people stop smoking, we will teach you in a step by step manner. If your aim is to help people lose weight, we will show you how. If you're planning on helping people to overcome phobias we will demonstrate how to do it (delegates have had phobias and other problems extinguished on our courses when they've volunteered in live demonstrations). Do you want to help people deal with alcohol addiction too? We can share what works. And if you want to help people overcome stress, become more confident, motivated and positive - we have answers that work.

Importantly: people who've trained with us to date already include medical doctors, psychiatrists, nurses, counsellors, hypnotherapists, NLPers, trainers / teachers, coaches, commercial business people (including, for example, senior managers and decision makers from the banking and the insurance sectors), hands-on therapists (including aromatherapists, reflexologists, indian head massage practitioners and healers) along with 'beginners' who were starting new careers in the world of modern healthcare.

This Validated Hypnotherapy Diploma Training Course meets the membership level requirements of the General Hypnotherapy Register. This means that you will receive a full 20 days' classroom based training, where you will observe live demonstrations and where you can practice the skills that you'll be learning in a comfortable and supportive environment. What's more, there are lots of opportunities to ask questions... and to hear about results from real-life case histories - so that you can understand how, when, where and why specific principles have been utilised in professional practice. Often delegates who've completed courses with us in the past will join us too, to talk about their experiences in practice.

Upon successful completion of this course you will be awarded a Diploma in Hypnotherapy, a Practitioner Certificate in NLP, a Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and a Life Coach Certificate issued by Aurora Healing Ltd.

'Thank you again for all of your help facilitating the course and for your kindness.' Sue.

'Once again thanks very to both you and Kerin for all your help. I can honestly say that the whole process has changed my life for the better. Working with you has reminded me of what is really important to me. I can never thank you enough. God bless, Dave.'

The EOS Method

Once you're comfortable using a range of hypnotic inductions and therapy techniques you will learn the EOS Method.

This element of the course is designed for therapists who want to learn how to help clients overcome phobias, manage their physiological pain, health anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, OCD, panic attacks and to help them make themselves feel safe. The EOS Method provides a systematic approach to treating a wide of variety of anxiety-based conditions. It's a multi-disciplinary method, incorporating Meridian Therapy (EFT & TFT) principles, EMDR, NLP and Hypnosis presented in a specific step-by-step protocol that's been used successfully in clinical practice over many years.

Here's what the EOS Method covers:

* The K-Swish Method

* Meridian Energy Therapy Training

* NLP V-K dissociation principles

* Hypnotic Intervention Protocols

* Spirituality – helping the client to connect to their Life Purpose, using reflective principles to reawaken an understanding of what really matters to them. This element includes time-honoured shamanic techniques. Modern healthcare now recognises the importance of maintaining healthy spiritual practices in our daily lives. As The Royal College of Psychiatrists says:

‘All health care tries to relieve pain and to cure - but good health care tries to do more. Spirituality emphasises the healing of the person, not just the disease’.

The Curriculum.

Our Validated Hypnotherapy Diploma Course takes place over several months. Each training session lasts about 7.5 hours, starting at 9.15AM and concluding at 4.45PM/5PM. Based on Results

outside1Many experienced people, including highly-trained counsellors, hypnotherapists and trainers choose to learn with us. We base what we teach on results gained in practice.

Our Ericksonian Language Patterning is recognised as being particularly outstanding. (As Dr. Mike Mandel once said: 'You wrote the book on it!')

As mentioned above, hypnotherapists who've previously qualified with us and who are now established themselves in practice will sometimes join in on a training programme to share the secrets of what they've achieved and how they've applied what they've learned.

Explaining why we'd be chosen to help: 'Someone suggested I look in the Yellow Pages to find a hypnotherapist, but you had helped my friend's daughter. So I said: 'No! I want him!''. R.M. Bournemouth. (Helped to stop smoking.)

Home study during the course includes the following:

•Keeping a Learning Log as a record of the principles that you will be learning each weekend.

•50 sessions of client work. (You'll complete 50 sessions of ‘client work’ with volunteers that you will have arranged for yourself, from approximately the sixth weekend of the course. During these sessions you can help your volunteers to learn to relax, enhance confidence and enjoy other beneficial experiences. This will take place away from the training venue in the time between training sessions, arranged by you to suit you and your volunteer 'clients').

•Designing 5 trance scripts (we’ll teach you how to structure a hypnotherapy session and the kind of words ('language patterns') you need to use in practice and then, when you’ve learned enough you can design 5 scripts).

•Writing an essay of 1500 words titled: The Therapeutic Applications of Hypnosis, CBT, NLP and Coaching (this is your opportunity to write about whatever interests you in the world of hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP and coaching).

•Practicing techniques and familiarising yourself with principles covered on the course between each weekend of classroom training.
